Relic & Runt
Runt & Relic
4.5" tall × 2.25" diameter glass jar
Nobody picked the Runt first. He’s a man-faced stink bug—small, weird-looking, carrying that human profile on his thorax like a mask he can’t take off. But he’s standing his ground in the foreground of this 4.5-inch jar, positioned protectively in front of the “Relic”: a mink leg bone wrapped in coiled copper wire, standing upright in synthetic moss like an ancient artifact he’s sworn to guard.
Maybe the bone is his origin story. Maybe it’s just his emotional support femur. Either way, the positioning is clear—the Runt faces the world while the Relic has his back. The copper wrapping catches the light behind him, oxidizing slowly, adding weight to the little guy’s bluff.
Materials: Naturally deceased Catacanthus nigripes (man-faced stink bug), real mink leg bone with copper wire wrapping (background placement), synthetic moss substrate, airtight glass jar.
Dimensions: 4.5" H × 2.25" diameter.
Care Instructions:
- Maintain a stable, dry environment (65-75°F)—sealed to protect both the runt’s face and the relic’s metal
- Display in indirect light (direct UV bleaches the specimen and accelerates copper oxidation)
- Handle jar by base only; narrow footprint means easy tipping
- Copper will darken naturally—this adds gravitas to the Relic
- Dust exterior with dry microfiber; the Runt’s face is surprisingly delicate
Small package, big backup.
